Interview Exclusive: Mz. Wellnezz
In my interview with Lee, she tells me about her first experience with Melaleuca, and how difficult it was to get one of their products. She also highlights how the experience changed her runs, and her exercises forever. Lee, the founder of Healthy and Young Seniors, has always put her health first, making sure to learn about new ways to be your healthiest, fittest, and most active self. I, her granddaughter, had the opportunity to interview her. Growing up I had the privilege to hear her stories, and this interview was just like those stories she told and still tells me. Think of her interviews as a peek into the magnificent stories and experiences she shares, unlike any other, informative and entertaining.
Q.
Hello, my name is Leena, and I am here with my grandmother, and founder of Healthy and Young Seniors, Lee. So, obviously, you are very vocal about health and wellness, and your love for Melaleuca. You are a runner and have been for a while. You mentioned that you were introduced to Melaleuca through one of their products the Access Bars.
What was your first introduction to the Access bars?
L. I found the empty box in a waste basket. I picked it out of the waste basket and started reading because I saw a picture of a jogger, and it said that it turned fat into fuel...I thought with me being a runner, I needed to start using this product right away. If it could add more to my runs and enhance them.
Q. And were you running when you found the box?
L. No, I was at work.
Q. And so after you found the box, what did you do?
L. I read everything, then I called the toll-free number, ready to order the product. When I called the company, they asked for my ID number, and I didn't have an ID number, then I told them my name, and they said that they could not "find me". I said, "What do you mean you can't 'find me'?"
They said "well you have to be a member to shop here. We can refer you to someone that can contact you."
I said, "I don't have time for that. I'm at work and I have to do my job. I'll just do my homework, thank you very much and have a good day." And I hung the phone up.
Q. And what did you do to find out more?
L. I started asking all my coworkers if they had ever heard of the company. I couldn't even pronounce the name of it. One day, a coworker said, "Are you trying to say Melaleuca?" and I said "Yes that's it! What do you know about it?" She said that was all (her) boyfriend (talked about). I said, "could you please ask him to come down here or call me because I want to try the product."
He didn't call me, instead of him it was his mother who came into the office. She came in and said, "I'm looking for Lee Stroud." I said, "That would be me." She says, "Well I have something for you." And she holds up one bar. I said "I don't want that. What am I supposed to do with that?" She says, "Well, I thought you wanted this." I said, "I need a box...I can't do anything with one bar." She said, "Well, is it possible (for me) to sit down and talk to you?" I said yes and she sat down beside me in the office...she told me about being a Melaleuca customer, about how many products I would get in a box every month, and the prices of the products being a customer versus retail price. I knew it would behoove me to become a customer, so I signed up. I could see that right away, I then ordered two boxes of the bars from her.
Q. So you finally got them. How did they improve your runs?
L. The order came in only two days, and I couldn't wait to try them. I followed the instructions on the box, and it said to eat it 15 minutes prior to your run. I did this, and the first two days, I didn't experience anything different; it was the same. I began to have my doubts. On the third day, following my routine before, I went out and the next thing I knew, I was running, and it felt like I was gliding. I wasn't tired and had much more stamina. I wasn't breathing hard. I thought I could run like this all day. I was very satisfied, and I started using Access Bars every time I worked out.
Q. and, do you still use them?
L. Yes! I highly recommend this for anybody that's doing anything physical, if it's something out of the ordinary, if you're walking, if you're hiking, biking, even if you're cleaning (the) house. Access bars are what you want to use.
